KATHMANDU, MAY 27 -
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he would keep Nepal
visit in his priority list, adding that he would want to visit Nepal
even just for visiting the holiest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath.
Modi, who was sworn in as the 15th prime minister of India amid a
special function in New Delhi yesterday, said so during his meeting with
his Nepali counterpart Sushil Koirala at the Hyderabad House in the
Indian Capital on Tuesday.
According to Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi, who was present
in the meeting, PM Koirala extended invitation of Nepal visit to Modi to
which the Indian PM was positive.
PM Modi assured Koirala that he would visit Nepal to attend the
upcoming Saarc Summit due to be held in Kathmandu in the month of
November.
Newly appointed Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was also present in the meeting.
During the meeting which lasted for about 25 minutes, Koirala and Modi
took up issues related to the bilateral ties between the two countries.
PM Modi further said that India would continue its support in Nepal’s
peace process, democracy and development.
After meeting Modi, Koirala also held talks with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
PM Koirala is also scheduled to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz
Sharif and Indian President Pranab Mukherjee later today. He will return
home on Wednesday.
