KATHMANDU, JAN 28 -
Nepal registered its first victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand thrashing Uganda by 160 runs on Tuesday.
Chasing a steep target of 241 runs for victory, Uganda was bundled out for just 80 runs at Bay Oval.
Winning the toss and batting first, Nepali side finished on 240 runs in
49.4 overs. Prithu Baskota topscored with 59 runs. Sharad Bheswakar
(41), Binod Bhandari (35) and Paras Khadka (30) were other top
contributors for Nepal.
Charles Waiswa claimed three wickets. Davis Arinaitwe and Faruk Ochimi grabbed two wickets each.
In reply, Uganda performed poorly with the bat with only three of their
batsmen reaching the double digit score. Richard Okia was their top
scorer with 19 runs. Sagar Pun registered three wickets followed by
Sompal Kami and Shakti Gauchan, who claimed two each in their kitty.
