KATHMANDU, MAY 21 -
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) has summoned the
eight nominees for the Supreme Court justices for parliamentary hearing
on Friday.
A meeting of the PHSC on Wednesday also decided to summon individuals
who had filed complaints against the recommended justices later this
afternoon. PHSC has received 22 complaints against the eight nominees.
The meeting also objected to Judicial Council's decision to snub
committee's call to appear before it to discuss justice nominations. It
decided to write to JC in this matter.
PHSC decided to conduct hearing as the legal provisions state that the
JC recommendations would get automatic endorsement if PHSC doesn't take a
decision within 35 days of recommendation. The 35-day deadline is due
to expire next week.
