Jhapa and Sarlahi shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw during the BIAAG U-17 Girls’ Football Tournament while Kathmandu defeated Bara 2-0 here on Sunday.
Jhapa took the lead through Dikshya Chaudhary in the 25th minute in a
Group C match. But Sangita Ghising levelled the scores in the 31st
minute. Sarlahi’s joys were shortlived though as Ranjana Chaudhary put
Jhapa ahead again a minute later.
Sarlahi squandered the chance to equalise when they failed make use of a
wonderful chance after awarded a penalty. Menuka Ale stepped in to
take the spot kick but found the woodwork. Yet another opportunity had
come Sarlahi’s way when they were awarded another spot kick but Ghishing
too failed to convert it as she shot wide off the target.
Jhapa, however, lost the momentum in the latter half providing room
for Sarlahi to bounce back into the game. Ale made up for her blunder in
the first half when she hammered home the equaliser in the 63rd minute.
In the other match, a brace from Laxmi Tamang (B) handed Kathmandu a
comfortable win in the Group D match. Tamang scored in the 10th and 25th
minute to seal the match. Morgan will take on Banke and Morang will
play Kanchanpur on Monday.
