KATHMANDU, MAY 25 -
The government on Sunday unveiled the achievements made by Sushil Koirala -led Cabinet in the first 100 days at office, voicing optimism about the promulgation of the new constitution within a year.
In a press statement released today, the Prime Minister’s Office
mentioned that the incumbent Constituent Assembly (CA) had endorsed the
previous achievements made by the erstwhile CA which had now paved the way for the assembly to complete remaining works of constitution writing.
Prime Minister Koirala had assumed office on February 11 after
garnering 405 votes in favour, with support from coalition ally CPN-UML,
in the voting conducted at the Legislature-Parliament.
The endorsement of the much awaited Truth and Reconciliation Commission
(TRC) bill by a majority of the Legislature-Parliament, formation of
several committees in the Constituent Assembly and the election of
chairpersons of the respective committees, among others, have been
highlighted as major achievements
in a 55-point press statement released by PMO today.
The press statement also mentions about PM Koirala’s participation at
the third BIMSTEC summit held in the month of March where the Foreign
Minister had signed in three agreement papers on behalf of the
government.
It further states that the government is well on course of hosting the
18th Saarc Summit in the month of November as the preparations made for
the same have been satisfactory.
