KATHMANDU, SEP 26 -
The parliamentary hearing for chief justice nominee Ram Kumar Prasad Shah scheduled for Friday morning was deferred.
The hearing was postponed following the death of former minister Siddhraj Ojha. Shah was summoned for the hearing.
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee had summoned Shah for the
hearing this morning. Two complaints have been filed against the nominee
so far.
On September 12, the Constitutional Council recommended senior Justice
Shah as the next chief of the judiciary. The recommendation upheld the
tradition to promote senior most justice to head the Supreme Court.
Shah, upon clearing the hearing, will replace Chief Justice Damodar
Prasad Sharma, who retires on October 10. Shah’s tenure will be of less
than nine months.
