The agitating locals chanted slogans against the minister outside the
District Administration Hall where he was holding consultations with the
stakeholders about the situation of Hepatitis E and Hepatitis A outbreak in the region.
Eleven people have already died in Biratnagar following the outbreak of jaundice epidemic while thousands others have been affected due to the outbreak .
The locals demanded that the drinking water should be pure or else
there should be no distribution of water at all. Police had to use force
to escort minister Khadka's vehicle after the meeting.
Minister Khadka said that pure drinking water would be distributed
through tanker in the most affected regions for some days. He went on to
assure that the ministry would take necessary steps for compensation if
