KATHMANDU, APR 29 -
Lawmakers on Tuesday drew the attention of the government towards a
range of issues including Judicial Council's recommendation for the
Supreme Court justices.
Speaking at the zero-hour of the Legislature-Parliament in the Capital today, the lawmakers
said that there should be initiatives to protect the existence of
independent judiciary as some of the names recommended by JC for the
apex court are controversial.
Likewise, the lawmakers
also expressed their reservations saying that the government body was
turning blind eye to the rampant irregularities in the rural development
projects. The lawmakers
pointed out that there had been no initiatives on the government's
part to repair the bridge connecting Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga and Khotang
which collapsed recently.
Acknowledging the procedure initiated by General Administration
Minister Lal Babu Pandit to take action against the bureaucrats holding
permanent residency (PR) and green cards of foreign countries, the lawmakers asked for suspension of the Constituent Assembly members holding PR, green cards and DV lottery.
The parliamentarians also urged the government to take effective
measures in providing food stuff in several rural districts as there was
food scarcity in several districts of the Karnali Zone.
