LALITPUR, APR 23 - UCPN (Maoist) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that his party's stature was reduced in the Constituent Assembly (CA) because of some lofty ambitions of fellow party leaders.
Inaugurating the 8th district convention of UCPN (M) Lalitpur on Wednesday, leader Shrestha confided that the party was reduced as the third largest party in the second CA as the party could not work as per public aspiration. According to Shrestha, the desire to become 'big leader' in some of the party leaders was one of the major reasons behind party's poor show in the second CA election.
The former deputy prime minister said that one does not become a 'big leader' by giving speech, adding that the party's leadership should be chosen through public ratification.
He further remarked that all older strategies adopted by the party had failed. "Our every strategy after joining the peaceful politics has failed," he said," Party has had to face consequences because of the same."
The UCPN (M) leader said it was high time for the party to reassess its future strategy and programmes. He went on to warn that the party could be 'finished' if it did not make timely changes in its policy.
